EXCLUSIVE NEWS: Miranda Lambert Wins Big At ACM Awards

Miranda Lambert picked up three accolades at the 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards last night (07.04.13), including Female Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year for 'Over You'.

The 29-year-old star beat off competition from Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride and Kacey Musgraves to land Female Vocalist of the Year to go with a Song of the Year and Single Record of the Year brace for her hit 'Over You', which she wrote with husband Blake Shelton about his late brother.

The blonde beauty took to the stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas to collect her hat-trick of accolades and thanked her fellow musicians for ''accepting'' her as a songwriter as well as a performer.

Speaking to the crowd, she said: ''As a songwriter, having your song and your lyrics recognised by your peers is pretty much as good as it gets.

''And I'm so thankful for being in this genre of country music, every single time someone's nominated, I just cheer, because I love everybody to death. So thank you for accepting me as a songwriter, not just as a singer, because that means the world to me.''

Miranda and Blake were both up for the fan-voted Entertainer of the Year award alongside Jason Aldean and Taylor - who was favourite for the accolade after winning it for the past two years - but Luke Bryan took home the prize.

It was the second award of the night for the 36-year-old star, who also won the Vocal Event of the Year gong alongside Jason and Eric Church for their song 'The Only Way I Know'.

Jason won two prizes after landing Male Vocalist of the Year, and Little Big Town scored a brace courtesy of the Vocal Group of the Year award as well as Video of the Year for 'Tornado', while Eric also took his total to two after winning Album of the Year for 'Chief'.

Taylor and Carrie were up for four and two accolades respectively, but both blonde stars ended the night empty-handed.

Miranda LambertMiranda Lambert Says She'll Be Jealous if Blake Wins

Miranda Lambert is up for five ACM awards this year, including Entertainer of the Year. Miranda and her husband, Blake Shelton, are both up for that award, but Miranda’s not worried about them both being nominated for the same award. According to Miranda, as long as SHE wins, everything will be just fine…

Miranda Lambert: “I think it’s awesome. I just hope he doesn’t win. If either one of us … I don’t want either one of us to win if one of us doesn’t. We were just kidding, but I told him, I said … He was like, ‘Well, who do you want to win?’ I was like, ‘Jason Aldean.’ He was like, ‘What do you mean?’ I was like, ‘Well, I’ll be jealous if you win.’ So … (laughs).”

Miranda Leigh Lambert (born November 10, 1983) is an American country music/Texas Country artist who gained fame as a finalist on the 2003 season of Nashville Star, where she finished in third place and later signed to Epic Records. Lambert made her debut with the release of "Me and Charlie Talking", the first single from her 2005 debut album Kerosene. This album, which was certified Platinum in the United States, also produced the singles "Bring Me Down", "Kerosene", and "New Strings". All four singles were Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.
After Epic's Nashville division closed, Lambert was transferred to Columbia Records Nashville for her second album, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which was released in early 2007. Although the title track failed to make top 40, the next three singles ("Famous in a Small Town", "Gunpowder & Lead", and "More Like Her") were all Top 20 hits, with "Gunpowder & Lead" becoming her first Top 10 country hit in July 2008. Lambert's third album, Revolution, was released in September 2009. Five singles have been released from the album, including Lambert's two Number One hits "The House That Built Me," which spent four weeks at the top of the chart, and "Heart Like Mine". Lambert has also been honored by the Grammy Awards, the Academy of Country Music Awards, and the Country Music Association Awards.
